SLCC and the Lafayette Women's Chamber of Commerce are partnering to bring you a special webinar titled Etiquette for Communicating with Deaf Customers.
Do you have deaf or hard-of-hearing customers or co-workers? Do you know the proper etiquette when communicating with a deaf person?
As part of SLCC’s Corporate College Learn While You Lunch series, Nancy Nicholson will present on etiquette when communicating with the deaf and hard of hearing, basic sign language, and working with interpreters. Ms. Nicholson has over 30 years of experience in working with the deaf community. She has taught at Louisiana School for the Deaf and SJ Montgomery in Lafayette Parish, interprets for the Deaf Action Center, and owns Sign Language Specialties of Acadiana.

Friday, July 10, 2020, from 4-6 pm. There will be refreshments and all kinds of Louisiana Art, Crafts, Booths with Louisiana Created Foods, Jewelry, and more!
If you would like to hold a Ribbon Cutting we are scheduling them but keeping committee members to a minimum to attend. If you would like to schedule a Ribbon Cutting please contact the Chairwoman of that committee, Valerie McGehee at 908-227-7661 or via email [email protected]
Are you a Certified Safe Shopper? With the new guidelines instituted by Governor Edwards, it's important now more than ever to become a Certified Safe Shopper! We are spotlighting WCC Members who are Certified Safe Shoppers with live Facebook Pop Up Spotlights! If you are a Certified Safe Shopper let us know if you'd like to be featured!
If you are not, we encourage you to practice the Social Distancing practices set forth by the CDC, we encourage you to wear a mask and follow the Safe Shopper Initiative. If you have not become a "Safe Shopper" Business you can do so by calling 311 option 2 Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and you will receive a decal for your door as well as free masks for your employees. It's only a few questions and you can pick up your decal and masks the next day.
